Best praise vs top criticism for Kettler Regatta 500
“Fall is "head race" season which means the boats are released one at a time and win based on the time it takes them to finish (rather than spring and summer when they race all at once and whoever crosses first wins). This also means the finish line itself is particularly unexciting in the fall. I second what some others have said about finding a good bridge or sharp curve to watch from. Curves are where boats passing each other can be exciting. Bring binoculars, snacks, and a good camp chair to sit in. Get her race times, understanding that that's just when the boats are released - it might take them 18 minutes to finally get to you depending on how far down the course you are. Find the regatta website (RegattaCentral has lots of good info) to get the course layout and just pick a spot you like. Feel free to cheer on any of the crews as they row past.”
