Best praise vs top criticism for BlackVue DR770X Box
“Yes. I've always liked how BlackVue implemented their wifi features. Most, if not all their dash cams have 2 wifi modes (I have had the DR650GW and DR770X box). One mode is to create a wifi hotspot for your phone to connect to that allows you to do the things you mentioned for the A229. The 2nd mode is for the dash cam to connect to a wifi access point like at your home or office, if within range. When connected to your work or home wifi access point, the dash cam is accessible from the cloud/internet. You can now view live feed, recordings or change settings from your home or office. Another good thing about BlackVue's implementation is that the Wifi can be set to stay on until you turn it off or power runs out of battery. Most other dash cams auto turn the wifi off if nothing is connected to it. If you want any connectivity, you will need a LTE module or compatible dash cam plus a data plan. Once you connect the dash cam to the cloud, you can access it from anywhere you and the vehicle have data availability. For all dash cams, in order to have parking mode, you will need to hardwire because you need a power source for the dash cam to run when vehicle is turned off. Otherwise, a dash cam battery power bank can work, but they are expensive. Check out our review of the BlackVue DR770X box on our channel if you want to see how the wifi and cloud features work on it. We also have a hardwire video for them too. Let me know if you want the links.”
“Blackvue Box can have internal or external front and rear cams. Interior tends to provide a better angle for identifying plates and avoids water and dirt on the lens, but whatever. Has built in voltage monitoring so you can choose the voltage to shut down at.”
