tldr; Tote-pack done elegantly. Works better than most hybrids. Good for bike commuters.

Best praise vs top criticism for Bellroy Tokyo Totepack
“Are you looking for a backpack? I have the Bellroy Tokyo tote in premium; it has an internal water bottle holder and it looks cute enough for a dinner out (it has handles at the top and you can tuck away the backpack handles). I also have the Qwstion bananatex roll top in black; while the design is gorgeous, the top handle keeps falling off and becoming unattached, which drives me wild. By the way, I’ve had the Kanken; it’s super cute but very uncomfortable to carry around. It’s not the most ergonomically designed bag. Anyway, I can highly recommend the Bellroy. Very high quality, thoughtful design, and super comfortable.”
“**my suggestion:** [The Boundary Supply Rennen](https://www.boundarysupply.com/products/rennen-x-pac-daypack) **my experience:** i carry a lot of stuff so i initially bought the Bellroy Tokyo Totepack, but ended up returning it to buy the Boundary Supply Errant due to the sturdier backing, flexibility with organization using their modular system, the ability to hold my 1L water bottle, and how effectively waterproof (not just water resistant) the x-pac fabric is. (i’m also pretty sure all those features that made me buy the Errant are also present in the Rennen)”
