โ€œDoesn't really. It's a marketing number, mostly. This is why Asus always inflates their maximum DPI number above everyone else using the same generic sensor (see: Keris 2 with "42,000 DPI" ~~3395~~ Aimpoint sensor when everyone else is claiming 32000 or 24000).ย  Conceptually, a higher max DPI means the sensor can more accurately measure the surface under it (especially detecting smaller movements). But we're talking motion sizes too small to really be... Useful. 400 DPI is already measuring in increments of 0.06 millimeters.โ€
