“You can use your normal detergent for laundry. It’s recommended to use free and clear to avoid fragrance, but that’s kind of the only thing to be aware of. Coming from the cloth diaper world, where getting things truly clean is very important, I’d encourage you to go with a mainstream detergent of some sort. Making your own can seem attractive, but homemade detergent doesn’t work in modern machines and your clothes will not get clean. We use liquid tide free and gentle.  We’re fans of the aveeno baby eczema line, but also aquaphor and cerave in the blue tub as necessary. Know that you don’t need to scrub baby with soap nightly or really, more than once per week or so. ”
