+37 pts“I've been too old to care about terms like "played out" and "trending" in clothing for my entire life. Sambas have been popular since the 1970s and still work.”

+4 pts“Just for your edification, Sambas get holes in the heel because of the sole construction. They have a very thin outer rubber layer that's bonded to a honeycomb rubber section (for comfort), and it doesn't take much for that outer layer to wear through. [Here's](https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/How+To+Fix+a+Hole+in+the+Sole+of+a+Adidas+Gazelles+Shoe/40148) an example showing Gazelles, but Sambas are essentially the same.”
