+50 ptsβThereβs a reason.. Rockwell is a great razor, at a reasonable price, and it comes with different plates to find the right level of aggression for each individual.. typically bought after lurking this sub-Reddit and finding the Majority of wet-shavers would concur it is a great option for a βStarter kitβ doesnβt scare off newbs, and once you get the hang of things, you can use the 5 and 6 plates to achieve a more efficient shave. Stirling Soaps are also highly regarded in the community, and when you are new to the hobby and seeing as many people recommend Stirling Soaps as more expensive brands like Barrister, A&E, Noble Otter and such.. it just makes sense to go with the company that seems to offer better value/bang for your buck, as they havenβt yet experiencedβ¦ the rabbit hole!β

+7 ptsβI saved what mailman169 wrote on just this sunject. I hope he doesn't mind me sharing: Had a chance to use the .68, and I like it a lot better than the 6c. Here is why: 1. It is a lot thinner than the 6c. This makes it easier to shave under the nose. 2. There is more gap under the blade so that hair doesn't get stuck. With the 6c, I had to sometimes unscrew the plate to get hair out when my hair was a bit longer. Hair rinses right out with the GC. 3. The 6c isn't wide enough to hold the entire blade, so it sticks out slightly on the ends. This can cut just because the blade is so thin. The GC is slightly wider to cover the width of the blade. 4. As for shave quality, the GC felt so smooth (I used a wilkenson blade). I also felt I would never cut myself. I could have probably gone a little more aggressive, but I am okay with what I have. I might get the next level plate to go with it. Overall, I am really happy with the GC and Idk if I will use the 6c anymore.β

Best praise vs top criticism for Muhle R89

+9 ptsβFirst of all, if it's the R89 you got, it's really hard to cut yourself with it. It's smooth and mild. At least I haven't been able to, even during sloppy use. Sooooo nervous at first, but it's really gentle. Use a light touch, let the weight of the razor do the job. Everyone's hair growth is an adventure in itself, you never know which way it grows. You'll have to learn where your individual with or against the grain directions are.β

+3 ptsβOne thing I'm pretty sure about is that if you're annoyed by *any* razor's mildness, you'd probably be at least as annoyed by the R89. I've had one for 10'ish years, and more and more often resort to my, also closed-comb cheap Chinese razor. The R89 is super mild.β
