+13 ptsβI'm a big fan of Matias switches and anything Alps. I use the Tactile Pro with my Mac mini at my desk and love the Matias switches and the 3 USB ports in the keyboard. So, I bought the Tactile Pro mini for use with my laptop. I love the fact that the keycaps show the additional symbols you can type when you hold down the Option and Shift+Option keys. These designs are pretty old. I hope Matias comes out with new models that have USB-C and are programmable.β

+1 ptsβ >I think the heavy weight zael clickeez are the loudest I've ever heard The original full size Matias Tactile. It's not just a loud switch; I think the whole keyboard is designed to amplify the whacking. I live alone and the thing is still too damn loud.β

+37 ptsβWhile I await the Signature Plastics "official" Macrodata Refinement set to be released and shipped (and a new TKL onto which they'll be installed), I decided to build myself something similar for the time being. * Keychron V1 keyboard * Drop Dasher MT3 keycaps * Kailh Box Jade switches * Re-lubed factory stabs. Additional poron foam between the PCB and case silicone pad And notice β there is no escape, and there is no control.β

+7 ptsβMy first impressions of the Keychron V1 were fairly positive: [https://www.reddit.com/r/BudgetKeebs/comments/ws9zyg/comment/il0odkt/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/BudgetKeebs/comments/ws9zyg/comment/il0odkt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) Unfortunately, a lot has changed over the course of 6 months. Here are some of the things I disliked about it: * The tray mount design is overkill. Why does it need 12 standoffs? On top of that, they are all made out of plastic with no metal inserts for the screw holes unlike the top case. This is a problem, because those plastic standoffs will break easily if you plan to do mods often. I eventually read up suggestions on what I can do about them, and I found one dude claiming that they just cut them off. I took a leap of faith and did just that. Now, I wouldn't recommend others with this as there's a chance you can break off the base of the standoffs along with the bottom of the case. Fortunately, things went pretty well on my end, and now I have a more consistent sounding board. * The stock stabilizers aren't as great as I thought they were. After just a few months of use, the stabilizers started showings signs of ticking and I eventually had to replace them. * The little plastic arm for the Windows and MacOS toggle switch breaks easily. If you're going to do mods often, then please keep this mind when putting the keyboard back together. Make sure the plastic arm sits inside the socket behind the plastic slider. And yes, I'm talking about this because I broke mines off already. * I have other issues with the board, but they are more of a personal thing. It's still a very solid entry level board despite all my complaints.β
