No. For the same money you can get a real HEPA purifier, like the Coway 1512.

The AHAM 2/3 rule stipulates you need a minimum of 140 CFM CADRs. If you're prone to wildfires, Smoke CADR needs to equal a room's area;; in that case, you'd need a min. Smoke CADR of 210 CFM. The Airmega AP-1512HH Mighty will **not** tackle VOCs, smoke odors, or visible dust. To answer your question, it does look like a good price in CAD. See the AutoModerator comment for our subreddit's resources on visible dust. There is a very tiny amount of activated carbon in the Mighty's respective filter. You need pounds of activated carbon or other sorbent media for gases/vapors/odors/VOCs. And depending on which gaseous "species" are present, you may need chemically modified (e.g., impregnated) sorbents. Heavyweight sorbent purifiers are very loud, very expensive, and clean the air more slowly than particulates-focused purifiers. Examples are Airpura and AllerAir. The "cheap" odors and VOCs option is the [Oransi TrueCarbon 150C](https://oransi.com/products/truecarbon-150c-air-purifier), which uses 3.2 lbs. of potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) impregnated activated carbon. The Mighty should be good for other particulates (e.g., smoke particles, pollen, animal dander, soot, mold spores/fragments, etc.), although it may be somewhat loud on the highest airflow speed or setting. [Infants and young children should not be exposed to overly loud air purifiers](https://www.reddit.com/r/AirPurifiers/wiki/index/how_to_choose_an_air_purifier_for_particulates/#wiki_regarding_infants_and_young_children). According to a *Pediatrics* article, USA hospital nurseries have recommended sound level limits of 50 dBA. I would recommend something like the [Coway Airmega 240](https://cowaymega.ca/products/airmega-240?variant=40263676592170) instead—if your budget allows—for particulates.

It really depends on what you're looking for. There is a review here: [https://housefresh.com/iqair-healthpro-plus-review/](https://housefresh.com/iqair-healthpro-plus-review/) The IQAir units focus on meeting a higher air purification standard, so their filters are excellent -- but expensive, and the thing is huge. Paying attention to the filter efficiency is only one part of how purification of a space; but it's the only part that's universally measurable. If you need \*the cleanest\* air and have \*all the money\* and have enough space for it, then the IQAir is a great choice for you. More recent work in room cleaning has shown that using lower-efficiency filters paired with higher volume air circulation is better for cleaning most rooms. It's also the case that several units that are smaller but placed around the room clean a space better than one large unit, when the cadrs are the same. For one IQAir, you could buy 5 purifiers from winix, levoit, blueair, or coway. One thing I notice about the IQAirs, is that the baffle on the top prevents air from shooting upwards. The housefresh test doesn't show it cleaning their test room any faster than the much cheaper, also hepa units. I think it's less effective at whole-room circulation.

The best course of action is to ventilate your house sans purifier and reside elsewhere if possible. If the outdoor air is quite humid (above 60% relative humidity) and your windows are open, this could prematurely saturate the sorbent media inside and shorten the life of the filter. The IQAir HealthPro Plus is extremely likely to be inadequate if you have loads of new materials off gassing. The V5 Cell filter for gases weighs only 5 lbs. This model is meant for filtering particulates and low to moderate levels of gases. Heavyweight sorbent media purifiers have \~15 lbs. to 34 lbs. typically of activated carbon and work quite slowly. The sorbent media beds—whether activated carbon, activated alumina, or synthetic zeolites—are often quite deep and require proper ["dwell time" or "residence time"](https://www.emcelfilters.co.uk/carbon-filters-frequently-asked-questions/). This results in lower post-motor air flow and therefore slower cleaning. Examples of this purifier type are the IQAir GC or GCX series, Austin Air, Airpura, and AllerAir. To boot, some gases are not well-adsorbed by something like plain or untreated activated carbon. Impregnated activated carbons can improve removal efficiencies for certain VOCs. A modified medium like potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) impregnated activated carbon can oxidize certain pollutants. But the KMnO₄ impregnated carbon can off gas as it becomes saturated. (In general, you need to replace any saturated sorbent media for two reasons. One, it no longer works to remove gases. And secondly, saturated media left in operation can desorb, meaning it releases trapped gases back into the air.)
