What Redditors Say
Best praise vs top criticism for Lenovo Legion 7i
Best Praise
+2 pts“Go for the Legion 7i if you can stretch the budget. It’s actually worth the extra money way better for what you do (moderate gaming + After Effects + AutoCAD + Fusion 360 + 3D stuff). The 5060 + 32GB RAM in the 7i is much stronger than the 5050 + 16GB in the Legion 5i, and that extra RAM makes a big difference in rendering and heavy programs If the price difference is too painful and you really need to stay around $1000, the 5i is still a decent laptop, but honestly for engineering and creative work the 7i is the smarter pick and will last you longer.”

+2 pts“Get a T480 they're around $200-300ish. If you want a Mac then you can probably go for the older models instead of the latest one to save money. If you do want to splurge on an M4 then any of the models will work for your use case. The 14-inch base model with 16gb of ram should be enough. The only issue would be how much storage you'll need since you can't upgrade it. If you plan on taking it on the go it's better to get a 14-inch laptop rather than a 16-inch. I have a Lenovo 7i and it's big/thicc compared to a Zephyrus G14/G16 or Macbook.”

What Redditors Say
Best praise vs top criticism for Apple MacBook Air M3
Best Praise
+6 pts“It would be a weird time to switch. Apple is king of laptops right now in terms of performance and battery life. If you go elsewhere you'll almost certainly have to choose between the two. You could save a buck or two buy purchasing from Apple's refurbished store. But if I had to go Windows, I'd probably go with a Snapdragon X one. They are the answer to Apple's M-series silicon.”

+29 pts“These are both terrible deals considering you can get the 24GB RAM M3 Air for less than the 8GB one you're looking at: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6602772.p As for the dell, that one has bad build quality. If you want windows look at a ThinkPad X9 or Microsoft Surface Laptop instead”
