Best praise vs top criticism for Sony ZV-1
“Before my recent Europe trip, I bought my wife the ZV-1 so she would have her very own camera. She's not a camera person, so an a6x00 body was out of the question, but she did want a small point and shoot. I found myself using her ZV-1 anytime I didn't feel like walking around with my a6400 + Sigma 18-50 hanging around my neck. It was refreshing having a "better than iPhone" camera on me/us at all times, but still able to fit into my pocket. By the end of the trip I used the a6400 and ZV-1 nearly an equal amount of time. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed having the option of both. After we got back from the trip I bought the RX100VII for my backup camera. This allowed me to sell my Sony 18-135 lens since the RX100VII has a nearly identical focal range. No regrets for me.”
“OK! So I would actually just wait a few months. The next version of the ZVE10 is coming out by August and promises to be wildly better than the current version (10bit, high frame rate, less rolling shutter). That being said, the ZVE10 and the ZV1 are both kinda underwhelming tbh for vlogging. I know they are marketed as such, but if you check out reviews both basically require a gimbal for stable footage and ZV1 is on the narrow side and the ZVE10 rolling shutter is really bad. It is ok for static shots.”
