“I am not advocating for the Seiko by the standards laid out by the OP. That Farer is on my short list as well and lean in that direction. Or the Sinn 556 with the red seconds hand. That being said I own the SPB515 and that countdown inner bezel is AWESOME. I use it every weekend for timing clothes or any other chore. I use it for timing presentation breaks and telling folks what time we are coming back. It’s incredibly useful IMO. However it is not worth MSRP. Wait for a sale and you can get it for like $700 or so.”
