Best praise vs top criticism for Saucony Ride 17
“TL;DR: A lot softer than the Ride 15 and feels closer to the Triumph 20 Big Saucony fan and had run over 400 miles in both the Ride 15 and Triumph 20. Bought these with a discount code and have only run 8.1 miles in them, primarily on the treadmill due to weather. Upper: More accommodating fit compared to the Ride 15 and Triumph 20. No issues with lockdown, feels TTS. Good upper, no complaints. Midsole: The transition from their EVA foam to PWRRUN+ has made the shoe much softer than the Ride 15 and unfortunately, a bit heavier. This foam transition effectively makes the Ride 17 a more comfortable recovery/easy run/long run shoe at the expense of top end speed. The increased midsole width makes the shoe feel a bit slappy and flat, which eventually goes away in the middle of the run. Given the dramatic changes to the shoe, I'm not sure where it fits in the current Saucony lineup. The Triumph 20 feels a bit livelier thanks to the 10mm drop and midsole geometry, and it can be bought at a steep discount. I guess once the marshmallow-looking Triumph 22 releases and the T20/21 start to phase out, the Ride 17 will then be better positioned to be Saucony's daily trainer.”
“Sounds like it is not the shoe for you. It gets much softer over time but at 110 pounds that would take a long time. I would try the rebel v3 or the ride 17 if I were you. One odd thing about the triumph 20 though is that different colorways fit differently. I have a navy color one that has a very uncomfortable and tight upper. The white one I have is almost too roomy. It's odd”
