Salomon S/Lab Genesis

“The S/Lab Genesis is a great 'tween type of shoe that's not great at any one thing but does everything really well. It doesn't have speed and propulsion of the ASU or AS, it doesn't have the outstanding grip or the agility/nimbleness of the Kjerag, and it doesn't seem that it will be quite as durable over the long haul as the Tomir 2.0 or the Norda 001, but it's at least very good in each of these areas and it'd probably be the shoe I'd take with me on a trip when I don't know what types of terrains I'd encounter. I'd just be confident that the S/Lab Genesis will be fine for anything. It's light (8.7oz in my US men's size 8) and quite comfortable with ample cushioning for the long runs. The quick-lace system is excellent to get a secure lockdown and, compared to other Salomon shoes, has good amount of room in the toe-box. The synthetic Matryx upper seems quite durable and I've read on the reviews that it drains really well in wet conditions. I think it's a great jack-of-all-trades trail shoe that complements all the other trail shoes that you and I have.”
