Best praise vs top criticism for Philips SHP9500
โGood audio experience is more than well enough without 7.1 of 5.1, etc. Stereo is all you need. The problem is that gaming headsets are typically crapshoots of performance to price ratio compared to headphones. This suggestion is just a little above your budget and the bass may leave something to be desired, but it will fit your needs as it will provide superior imaging and soundstage due to it's design. The dealbreaker to these two suggestions is that the design is one that leaks noise because they are open back to allow for that better soundstage and imaging. The type of leak noise where it would bother someone else IN the room with you, but not outside. SHP9500 ($70ish) with a v moda mic ($35ish). Now this one is not a headphone but is a gaming headset that performs well probably because it comes from Sennheiser PC37X on drop.com for $90 (special sale price for maybe a few days now) Both these suggestions are solid all arounders in the sound dept, although becaise theyre both open back. The bass may not be as great as you want. The microphones are great quality as well.โ
โSub $150? Phillips SHP9500 with V-MODA BoomPro. Over $150? AD700X with Antlion Audio ModMic. Spending less will be a disappointment at best in comparison. That's your best bang for your buck in both price ranges until you hit the $300+ range.โ
