Best praise vs top criticism for Oris Big Crown Pointer Date
“I recently went into an AD to buy a Khaki, came out with an Oris BCPD 😁. I preferred the softer edges to the case, coin edge bezel, dial and pointer date complication, and the OEM strap was much nicer too. https://preview.redd.it/0updrwhayvzc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73bc652a4b9eb10fbb835fa29a12c31dfd33f1cc”
“I would, but I don't have much interest in wearing gold. Outside of a formal occasion, it's too blingy. JLC has a very long history as "the watchmaker's watchmaker" and other brands still consult with them on executing complex movements. The pointer date on the Master Control Calendar jumps a big distance between the 15th and the 16th of the month to avoid obstructing the moonphase, which I find an incredibly charming and thoughtful detail. GO's Panomatic watches I just find really elegant and it's a distinctive German look you can really only get from them or Lange. The PanoLunar has several beautiful colorways. Subjectively, B&M's designs don't do much for me. On the one you're looking at, I find the text blocky and the placement awkward on a watch that's supposed to be elegant, but maybe you like the look, and that's fine! You can get a really nice moonphase for a lot less than any of these brands. Check out Christopher Ward or Farer for some stunning options, though not in this traditional dress watch style.”
