“There's two issues you are combating: 1) Light reflection to combat shadows: Deep set eyes create natural shadow due to the bones of the eye socket. This shadow is extremely pronounced in overhead indoor lighting, but disappears mostly in daylight depending on how you tilt your face. No matter how much makeup you put on if the lighting is terrible the shadows are going to be terrible. 2) Conceal to combat discoloration: Discoloration of the skin due to veins: Many people genetically or due to allergies have thin skin with prominent veins under their eyes that create discoloration. This exists no matter what lighting you are in and no matter how you tilt your head. With proper coverage, these should not show up in photos. Light Reflecting products: YSL Touche Eclat (my favorite!), Glossier stretch blam concealer, the Charlotte Tilbury light Wands- anything lightweight and glossy and reflective that doesn't have a glittery feel. Discoloration: Bobbi Brown Color Corrector in the pots. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage - thick paste highly pigmented products that are famous for covering anything (you may need to set with powder depending how oily you get) How to use: First tilt your head around and figure out where the discoloration is e.g. no matter how you tilt your head, no matter the lighting it's still there. Those areas should be covered with the heavy paste correctors (I pat a thin layer on with a finger wait for it to set , usually don't need a second layer). You may need to set with powder (these will settle into deep lines, so to the extent you can avoid your deep lines under the eyes do so). Second, tilt your head in a couple ways you normally take pictures, and see where shadows appear due to the lighting, and add the light reflecting products to those areas.”
