+13 pts“It wasn’t more than a decade ago that HHKB and the Leopold FC660 were considered the top-end of the hobby for pre-builts and both were Topre. A lot of people really like how they feel. I think all switches are cool, I think they fell off in popularity just because you can’t really get ahold of them outside pre-built, whereas I can get whatever funky mechanical switch I possibly want and put it in any kit I like. I’d love to see Topre become something we can buy in bags of 10, but I think that opportunity has gone out the window as manufacturers don’t see the value in it when they can make a mechanical switch and make more revenue in total sales and more profit per switch due to economy of scale.”
