Best praise vs top criticism for Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 8
“Then Legion Pro 7i gen 10 (2025) might be the one. Mini led/ Oled options ( both great) , and it's called " temperature king" that it handles the temperatures very well, didn't really checked much of it , but sounds good from the reviews.”
“Already left this comment earlier on a different post related to this laptop, gonna pop it here too. Hope it helps with a decision! Just want to help out here! I just purchased a **Legion Pro 7 16IRX8H with an i9 and a with a RTX 4080** (for 1.5k from microcenter). Seems like the Lenovo Legion model line has an ongoing problem for multiple years now. have been running around threads and it seems like It has a huge frame drop problem. What happens (seemingly) is if it ever loses all of its battery, it has a possibility of staying in a "function on battery life" mode even if its plugged in. There was no fix to this for a WHILE, I mean like a year or something, and lenovo thought they were geniuses because they "fixed" it every time. Now the way this is ACTUALLY fixed (if you end up getting this) is by going into the bios, disabling the battery, unplugging the computer and plugging it in again. The battery is designed to be automatically tuend back on once the system is started up (the setting exists for servicing centers to be able to save the hassle, so they just disable it through BIOS). Thats actually why lenovo thought they "fixed it" every time, because each time a laptop was serviced, they would go into that setting, remove the laptop, "service it" however they thought was necessary, and then when they turned it on it worked perfectly again. It was always that battery, and I've seen people talking about this issue 3 years ago, 2 years ago, 1 year ago, and Im sitting here, typing this up as a person who used to get 300-350 fps in CS2 and now I play on an average of 100-120, and god forbid someone throws a molly im sitting on 20 fps. Funny enough I had a razer laptop before this (that far outlived its lifespan god bless that lil thing) and the person servicing it in its final days always told me how pleasant it was to work with razer computers because of how nicely the wires and internals were laid out, and that compared to lenovo it was night and day. Apperantly, lenovo's internal wiring and whatnot from a few years ago (cant speak on recent years) is horribly laid out. Like literally 0 logic or reason more of a "if it works it works" kind of mindset. **So in short** if you end up getting this If you have FPS issues after your computer loses all it's battery --> Go into BIOS, Disable battery, click confirm, (computer will power off), unplug it (min. of 10 seconds), plug it back in, it'll power on, performance SHOULD in theory be back. Lenovo Servicin centers are kinda clueless, so are their online repair staff, don't buy the upgraded package ever they literally just tell you to reinstall drivers and clear your temp files. complete waste of time and money. Just be aware that Lenovo laptops are *IN THEORY* more prone to some level of internal malfuction. Just wanted to drop this here so you're as informed as you can be before making a purchase! Hope whatever you get serves you well!!”
