Best praise vs top criticism for HyperX Cloud Flight S
“I too returned mine(well, technically I sold mine to someone else). I'm not so much disappointed at the product but I definitely noticed things I was missing from my old headset (Logitech G933) which I bought for like $100 on sale. I'm really enjoying the HyperX Cloud Flight S and if you can snag one for $120, I recommend giving them a try. I think this subreddit might not like it that much but I'm thoroughly enjoying them. Compared to the Penrose: * Longer range wirelessly. I can literally walk 30ft away to my living room and still be connected to my computer. * Buttons on headset allow for some control, turning on/off sidetone, pause/play, etc. * Separate audio channels for Game/Chat show up on Windows. So if you want different volume control/mix of Discord and Game volume, it's built in. * Wireless charging which I thought was moot for me has actually been quite handy. I always eyed the crazy expensive Arctis Pro Wireless for that swappable battery to never have to deal with wires again but after buying a cheap hockey puck wireless charger off Amazon and connect it directly to my computer's USB-C port, I slap these on there, from 52% and 1 hour charge, I'm at 95%. Sure, charging it this way, I can't technically use it at the same time but since I don't have to charge it every night like I had to with my Penrose, I just know every 3-4 days I put it on the puck. Worst case scenario I use a microUSB while playing. That said, like another user mentioned, I too was able to use my Penrose while charging. Could be your USB port wasn't outputting enough to keep it alive? * Microphone on the Flight S is a bit more tinny and less bassy than the Penrose. If you use something like Voicemeeter though then that probably doesn't matter to you. I can make myself pretty much sound like how I did on the Penrose with Voicemeeter. * For me, the comfort of the Flight S is better. It just clamps to my head much more comfortably than the Penrose without having to wait for the clamping force to adjust. I do think the clamping force of the Penrose probably helped make it sound that much better though. * Penrose sound is better for sure but to me, it wasn't worth losing out on other things. * No bluetooth if you're into that. * You can mess with the Hyper X NGenuity app without needing to be connected directly, granted the software is pretty sparse for the Flight S. I do recall Audeze saying they'll add that functionality *eventually* * No hissing noises on the left earcup. I had this get worse on the Penrose after the latest firmware when it wasn't an issue for me on the first firmware. * Penrose has a bug where if you reboot with the headset on, that it would not connect back to your computer until you replug in the usb dongle. That doesn't happen on my Flight S. * Battery indicator already available in NGenuity app. Audeze said they're planning on rolling that out *in the near future* though. * Penrose is definitely louder but the Flight S is loud enough. * Penrose USB-C v Flight S Micro-USB. So ya, thought I'd share my experience and if the Flight S sounds like a good option for ya, I say check it out.”
“I went from the alphas to the flight and regret it everyday.”
