Best praise vs top criticism for Hoka Stinson 7
“I got Hoka Stinson 7s for my "one year motorcycle accident" anniversary. I think they are underrated...heavy...but underrated.”
“Looking for a medium-high cushion trail runner for hiking 8-14 miles/day. Typically put on around 200 miles/year, so nothing crazy. I have not used trail runners for this purpose before, but I want to give a shoe with higher cushion a shot compared to my typical hiking shoes. I've tried Brooks Caldera 6 and 7, Topo Mtn racer 3, Merrell Agility Peak, Hoka Stinson 7. Every one of these feels like they're rocking inwards, causing my foot to tilt inwards when I move towards toe off in my stride and the weight shifts to the balls of my feet and then toes, forcing weight onto my big toe/inside of the foot versus remaining stable and neutral. I've never felt this with lower cushion shoes, like my typical hiking shoes, basketball shoes, every day shoes. I feel it slightly in my pegasus road shoes, but not as exaggerated. Does this mean I'm pronating, or something else is "wrong" with my stride? Are these high cushion shoes are just squishing under my own natural pressure point, whereas a lower cushion shoe or one with a firmer outsole doesn't compress? Or are they designed to do this, and I'm just unfamiliar with the feeling. Thanks”
