Best praise vs top criticism for Hoka Challenger ATR 8
“The Saucony Peregrine is more of an all-purpose trail shoe than a road-to-trail like the Pegasus Trail. But it only has a 4mm drop and comes in standard, wide, ST (mud), GTX, and Ice+ versions to best fit your local terrain. The Hoka Challenger with a 5mm drop is a road-to-trail shoe that may also work for you. It's bouncier than the Pegasus Trail and Peregrine, but unlike the Peregrine, it has no rock plate so it should only used on smooth trail.”
“The Speedgoat (5 and 6) have much more wet/ mud grip than the Hierro. The Hierro is aimed at road to trail so more running from your door and along canal paths and hard packed trails. Speedgoat is definitely aimed more at trails. The Catamount is good but less comfortable and the Challenger is waterproof so great in the winter but not that comfortable. My go to is always the Speedgoat. Just got the 6 last month.”
