Best praise vs top criticism for Glashütte Original SeaQ
“I just dropped off my Glashutte Original SeaQ at the AD today so the original closed casback can be swapped out for the open one. That movement is too gorgeous to be hidden.”
“Not always but I def factor it in. Pretty used to METAS/COSC which I appreciate. I LOVE high horology independents with impeccable finishing (does that count as movement in this question?) although I can’t afford Rexhapi and Forsey etc etc. In more affordable world (still crazy expensive), GO as an example has such beautiful movements to the point that I have not bought a SeaQ bc it’s a closed caseback hiding a work of art. I know you’re point re Nomos and servicing if it were an ETA, but I like knowing Nomos had to build it all from ground up. Incredible achievement. Finally, the Horage Supersede I own was absolutely influenced by how much I liked the movement. Visually and performance. Getting the COSC card with all the exact testing results was so cool (and allows me to keep it -1 seconds per MONTH bc I know face up is + and on side is - so easy to correct All this being said, the aesthetics, sizing, and role of watch including complications almost always more important by decent margin.”
