Best praise vs top criticism for Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) 42mm
“my epix is +3 years and none showing up yet. The reality is that at some point an amoled will burn in - its just the nature of the technology. However for most users if you use AOD off, and if you regularly swap around the watch face (I use weekday and then weekend faces), and there is built in burn protection for the watch faces etc, then its very likely that you will have moved onto another watch before burn in gets to be an issue. It occurs but based on the forums/reddits I frequent, for current models of good brands it really isn't an issue unless you are planning keeping your watch +5 years (and its still a bit early to tell if it will be an issue then).”
“Why not Amazfit or Huawei? Their heart rate sensors have proven to be equal to or even better than Garmin's. They also offer sports metrics like Training Load, Stress, Sleep Tracking, HRV, Training Effect, etc. And they cost half the price or less. I can tell you, even though I have a Garmin Epix Pro, I feel like I paid double, and other brands do the same. If it were up to me, I'd choose the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro or the Amazfit T-Rex 3/Balance 2, or if you don't want a screen, the Helio Strap.”
