“At that price range, you need to keep your expectations realistic. Cell phone charging maybe a TV, a few fans, and the fridge overnight. Forget about major appliances, air-conditioning, and hot water. You might get a gas furnace to run. Strongly recommend a propane generator if that is available for that price, for an emergency standby generator you want something you can just plug-in and turn on and get power. Gasoline is difficult to store, accumulates moisture, is a fire risk and if you leave any in the generator after use it will gum up the carburetor. A back up battery, such as an EcoFlow Delta 2 or even a Delta 2 max would be a great next step because you can charge the battery from the generator and then run things off of the battery overnight or when the generator is not running or can’t run.”
