“I would get the Coway airmega 200m instead of the winix. I have the winix and the coway is waaaay better. The second speed setting moves a ton of air and has a really nice sound and low volume level.”
“1. The pinned post is trying to avoid the shitstorm that inevitably develops whenever someone says the word "ion". 2. The 1512 and 200 are the same unit. Both have an ionizer that defaults to "off". 3. The Winix 5500-2 has an ionizer that defaults to "on" but can be turned off with a single button. It just has to be turned off every time you power it up. The problems with ionizers are heavily overstated - some people don't like the air that comes out of them, some people prefer it, 99% don't notice any difference. Many units have them integrated and they can't be turned off and nobody even notices. I do recommend Coway's Airmega series for HEPA filtration. Neither the 200M nor the 1512 do much about odors and VOC though. Just be aware of that. (Not that the Winix does much more, but it does a LITTLE!)”
