Best praise vs top criticism for Bugaboo Butterfly
“I am so so so sorry you’re going through this. It is such a heavy situation that I don’t wish on anyone! To shed some insight, I did TFMR back in December for our baby’s brain didn’t develop past the brain stem, no butterfly effect as well. We found out with two separate low fetal DNA fractions when I took the NIPT testing at 10 weeks and 12 weeks. After the second result, we went to MFM for an in-depth ultrasound which is what confirmed the brain defect at a little over 15 weeks. We did an amniocentesis to confirm what caused the abnormality. Ours was due to triploidy - three full sets of chromosomes. Because I don’t miscarry in the early weeks, it was most likely maternal origin where my egg had two full sets of chromosomes at fertilization. It was my first pregnancy as well and genetic counselor said it was a bad luck, fluke-type situation unfortunately. 98% chance it won’t happen again when we go to TTC again. It’s great you’re getting additional testing to understand the cause!”
“I swear the most painful part of my delivery was the stupid iv. I had 6 bags of fluid in a 12 hour period due to severely low pressure so I was so bloated by the time LO was born I probably gained weight post delivery. Because of that the place they put the iv in hurt like hell and I called the nurses in at 4am because it was keeping me up. We argued but I eventually got them to remove it by arguing if the only thing I was complaining about after having a baby wasn’t my stitches or vagina but my hand then it really f-ing hurt. You probably can’t remove it because they need to be able to quickly give you fluids or meds in case something happens. You can ask them to move it. I’ve had ivs in my hands, forearms, etc. Also your veins aren’t your fault - I have horrible veins, like they butterfly the top of my hand for normal blood work - and no one has ever yelled at me. And you should be able to drink water. You can’t eat but fluids are very much encouraged.”
