Best praise vs top criticism for Brooks Catamount 2
“Prior to the Ultrafly, I raced in the original Brook Catamounts! Light, fast and responsive (albeit my big toe would usually blister in them in rainy conditions - but sometimes you just have to suck it up in races)! Other trail shoes I liked and used for more training purposes, Nike Pegasus 36 Trail (I believe the first Pegasus trail shoe), Saucony Peregrine 10/11 (heavy but can handle anything), and way back when (10+years ago) the Brooks Cascadia series (model 7 / 8). The Brooks Cascadia were great, but, to me, they started to get a bit too heavy and overbuilt with newer models so I started to move away from them.”
“Love my Brooks Ghost Maxes. Love the fun orange colorway and the soft cushioning they provide for my road runs. I was less impressed by their Catamount 2 trail running shoes. They run small and I find them to be really constrictive even after re-lacing them to be looser. I actually went with a cheap pair of ASICS Gel Sonomas to replace the Brookses and I regret nothing. Cheap and cheerful, as they say here in Scotland.”
