“Here’s the state of my collection with some additional commentary on allocation weirdness and the whole AD game. I don’t fault anyone who buys grey and doesn’t have the patience to play into stuff. For me, I’ve done well early in my career and generally tend to hyperfixate on whichever hobby I choose. The lack of ready availability is therefore, a bit of a good regulator for me to not go crazy on watches that I may regret. I also think, personally, I’d feel kind of like a sucker paying for a watch a resell prices just to see its price drop. **Vacheron 5520V “Panda”** \- latest acquisition, was offered this piece by the eBoutique. Requested it the day it launched (March 2023?), Received in February 2024. One prior purchase: Vacheron 4000V (Three-handed blue dial Fifty-six) **Omega Speedmaster Professional Sapphire Sandwhich (3861 Movement)** \- Bought this at the Omega boutique in Philly in 2022 before I understood the benefit of stacking purchases together. Would wear more often if the bracelet had microadjustments, I know some of the newer ones do. **Breitling Navitimer B01** \- 41mm Breitling Navi. In my very humble opinion the only watch in Breitling’s current lineup that hits the right note. Fell in love with this guy when I entered the store. Bought this at the Breitling boutique instead of getting it at an AD, which again, could’ve been a better play but 🤪 **Rolex Submariner 126610LN** \- Got it in February 2023 at an AD. Prior spend was around 50k including an engagement ring, still took 7 months to get. Felt like something I still had to really push for and that the AD has enough fish donating to the high margin pool that there wasn’t particular interest to get one assigned to my SA. **Rolex GMT Master II 126710BLNR** \- Got this also in February 2023 at a different AD I had built rapport with. Prior purchase was a Tudor Black Bay GMT in May of 2022. When I go the text, I flew out to the AD (they’re east coast) and had an appointment. Was a bit strange but the Store Manager sat in with me and the SA and kind of “interviewed me” trying to get a read on me and whether I was a reseller? **Vacheron 4000V Fifty-Six** \- First Vacheron purchase. The boutique in my city is a pseudo-boutique and felt a bit “why are you here” So I decided to put an inquiry in over the phone. Received a call a few days later (around September of 2022) and spent about an hour with their associate explaining why I liked VC, why I collected in general and my very earnest desire to build a fine collection of pieces that get passed down to my kids. Received a bunch of offers for PM pieces in the first few months and gave feedback on what I liked/didn’t like. Was offered a PM Fifty-six and let them know that if they ever did get a blue dial three-handed model I’d be interest.
