Blueair Blue Pure 211+

“I’m going to go ahead and disagree with some folks on here. BlueAir sells many products and some are extremely well regarded. The ones people poo-poo are the X11 models (211,311,411,etc.) The “ionizer” they’re referring to in these round models is a static charge unit that electrifies the air before it hits the filter. It generates less static than a TV and less ozone than ambient air (ie effectively zero additional). If you don’t mind the health risks of leaving a TV on all day, the Blueair has LESS risk. If you’re reading this on a laptop, that laptop makes more ozone (and exponentially more ionizing radiation) than a blueair purifier. That said, a lot of people in here choose to err on the side of caution and use products that ONLY mechanically filter air. Blueair is undeniably the most effective purifier in its class. They filter more air, faster, than any equivalent unit. I have a 411 in my daughters bedroom and it does a stellar job. But don’t let the marketing fool you. It is ONLY sized for a bedroom. 100-150 square feet, maybe not even that much. Blueair also has mediocre customer service, and deceptive marketing practices (their products are always “on sale” at randomly varying prices, making cross shopping hard). And their round units aren’t HEPA rated, they use their own technology. To be clear - I challenge the veracity of ANY round unit that claims to be HEPA, I don’t believe any of them are, irrespective of manufacturer. Nonetheless their professional models are competitive at their price points and unarguably effective (and genuine HEPA).”
