Best praise vs top criticism for All-Clad D5 Brushed Stainless 10-Piece Set
“Slightly off topic but I've been finding that All Clad at these stores has skyrocketed to unreasonable amounts for this type of store. They're asking for 180 for All Clad D5 pans worth maybe 225 on a normal day, which can be found cheaper on sale. Same with Le Creuset. Now the Le Creusets cost basically outlet prices while they are flooded with lookalike knock offs. Just make sure the prices are actually good is all I'm saying,”
“So I have all of the sizes of proline and all clad d5 12” and 10”. Heat distribution is night and day, the proline is way more even and much less reactive to temp swings. Especially if you’re cooking on a flattop electric consumer brand like me, where the burner is terrible and just fluctuates between max heat and off, that extra thermal capacity is invaluable with the proline. It keeps the temperature of the pan far more even throughout the cook. The downside of the proline is that it’s heavier and takes longer to preheat but the performance is far superior to all clad. Safe to say, the all-clads never get used and the prolines get used most days. As far as cleaning goes, that the pan is less reactive to temperature swings helps keep the pan from accidentally scorching so in that respect, yeah, it’s easier to clean.”
